WHY WE LOVE TEXAS

About Royal Truck & Equipment Texas Division

Over the years, Texas has taken several significant steps in order to increase work zone safety. In terms of regulations, TxDOT has strengthened its requirements regarding TMA truck manufacturing, ensuring that each truck meets additional safety standards before it becomes operational. Royal attenuator trucks have been already been built to exceed these standards since the beginning. Royal Truck & Equipment Texas Division fully supports these new requirements:

The first regulation change TxDOT has implemented has taken away the manufacturer’s ability to recommend a weight for the TMA truck. By setting the minimum weight for a TMA truck at 19,000 pounds, Texas has ensured that trucks in the state are heavy enough to sustain a crash while keeping roll ahead distance to a minimum.

The second change TxDOT made was by outlining exactly how ballasting of the truck is to be done, ensuring that it does not become a projectile during a crash. Weights may no longer be chained or placed on the bed of the truck. They must be “properly attached or contained” within the vehicle.
